Abstract. Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) was first performed by Haruhiro Inoue in 2008 at Showa University Northern Yokohama Hospital. Since then, this method has become widespread in the treatment of cardiac achalasia (СA).
On the basis of the surgical thoracic department №2 of the Republican Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, for the first time in the Republic of Tatarstan, POEM was successfully performed in 3 patients with a diagnosis of cardiac achalasia. The postoperative period passed without features. Patient were discharged in a satisfactory condition on the 7th day.
