Abstract. Prostate cancer is one of the urgent problems of the modern oncology and occupies one of the leading places among the malignant neoplasms in the world by the rate of increase in men over 50 years old.

Traditional histological examination of a biopsy sample is the only method with which it is possible to make a diagnosis of prostate cancer.

The annual increase in the morbidity and mortality of prostate cancer determines the necessity of improving the existing methods and technologies of diagnosing malignant neoplasms of the prostate.

Targeted biopsy is the only method of morphological verification of the diagnosis and requires the provision of adequate anesthesia. The article deals with ESP-blockade as a method of anesthesia for performing this procedure.

Key words: tumor diseases of the prostate, ESP-blockade, regional anesthesia.
