Abstract. Post-radiation sternal osteomyelitis is the late local complications of radiation therapy for cancer of the chest. Due to a chronic process and low reparative capacity of conservative therapy is ineffective post-radiation osteomyelitis of the sternum, and have to resort to surgery. It is a two-step and consists in the elimination of purulent inflammation, followed by plastic reconstruction of the chest wall. Application of vacuum therapy shown in the first stage of treatment, after debridement and after plastic phase as an additional method of stabilization of the chest wall, and in case of postoperative infectious complications.
