Abstract. The article traces the history of the Department of Oncology and Surgery at Kazan State Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors, headed by Professor M.Z. Sigal for 25 years. The authors provide an overview of Professor M.Z. Sigal’s research, his colleagues and students. The article focuses on the creative and scientific potential of the Professor, as well as his ideas and discoveries that implemented by his disciples.
